Ron Palmer, B.Eng., M.Sc., Ph.D., SM IEEE
Professor, Electronic Systems Engineering

Dr. Palmer graduated in Electrical Engineering at the University of
Saskatchewan in 1974. He received his M.Sc. in BioMedical Engineering
at the University of Manitoba in 1979, and his Ph.D. from the same
university in 1997. He is a member of the Association of Professional
Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
He worked for Bell Northern Research in Ottawa (Nortel) between 1974 and 1976,
then at SaskTel between 1977 and 1982. Since 1982 he has been at the
University of Regina where he was one of the founding Professors
for Electronic Systems Engineering.
At the university he pioneered and commercialized auto-steering for
agriculture.
He sStarted Accutrak Systems Ltd. in 1984, which sells auto-steering world
wide. He is currently working on row-following which would be used with
auto-steering - mostly for organic farmers.
Dr. Palmer was elected as a Member of the IEEE Canadian Foundation in 2008.
