Dec 2003 IEEE Canadian Foundation member, IEEE Foundation director, and past IEEE President Wallace Stanley Read is invested as a member of the Order of Canada by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, on December 12.
Dec 2003 The IEEE Canadian Foundation directors met on December 2 and awarded five IEEE McNaughton Centre Grants and four Special Grants. Including the seven Scholarships, one Centre and four Special Grants previously awarded, the total value of the awards in 2003 is $ 55,950. The grand total of all awards since 1958 passed the $1 million mark this year. For details about the recipients, please visit our grants page and click on the links at the bottom of the page.

Oct 2003 Three Toronto Section members; Bruno Di Stefano, Bob Alden and Wallas Khella, were honoured for outstanding volunteer service at the IEEE Toronto Section Centennial Banquet on October 4, 2003. Their names will appear of three Section Scholarships, Wallas Khella is a Director of the IEEE Canadian Foundation and Bob Alden is the President.

May 2003 Luc Matteau is awarded the IEEE Canada M.B. Broughton Central Canada Council Merit Award for exemplary and sustained service to IEEE in Canada for more than 30 years, principally as treasurer of IEEC Inc. and the IEEE Canadian Foundation. May 2003 Conestoga College acknowledges the value of their special grant awarded at the April 2003 Board Meeting to sponsor a "Hands-On Electronics Workshop" for Grade 7 & 8 students. Please read the report they provided - with photos.
Apr 2003 The Board of Directors meeting is held on April 8, after the Annual Membership meeting and;
- awards seven 2003 Scholarships,
- creates a new designation of "Honorary Member",
- expands the involvement of foundation members in its committee work.

- receives the report of the Grants committee summarizing that in 2002, the IEEE Canadian Foundation
   awarded 14 Scholarships, 4 Learning Centre Upgrade Grants, and 4 Special Grants - totaling $75,205.
- elects three additional directors from Quebec and Western Canada,
- sucessfully used teleconference and the web to enable increased participation.

Feb 2003 The IEEE Canada web site has been revised to accomodate English and French language pages, and to add many more pages, especially for students - all available awards are described and application/nomination forms provided.
