At right, Verona Wong receives her IEEE Canada WIE Prize in her home Section of Vancouver from IEEE Canadian Foundation President Bob Alden and IEEE Canada President Bob Hanna during the IEEE Canada Board meeting in April. This prize is sponsored by the Judy Clift Fund of the IEEE Canadian Foundation.
Apr 2007 The Board of Directors meeting is held on April 5, after the Annual Membership meeting and;
- re-elects as members Eric Holdrinet (Montreal), David Kemp (Winnipeg), Guy Olivier (Montreal), and Vijay Sood (Montreal) for 5-yr terms
- elects new members David Gregson (Victoria), Denard Lynch (Northern Saskatchewan), Brian Lee (Vancouver), Dominic Rivard (Trois-Rivières), Elmer Bourque (New Brunswick) for 5-yr terms
- noted that over the past four years the percentage of Sections with foundation members has climbed from 50% to 60% to 80% to 95%.
- reappoints the current officers for a further one-year term
- appoints members to the operating committees
- awards seven 2007 IEEE Canadian Foundation Scholarships,

- awards the 2007 IEEE Canada Women in Engineering Prize to Verona Wong
Apr 2007 The Annual Membership meeting is held on April 5 and;
- receives the President's annual report describing progress over the past year and plans for the future
- receives the report of the Grants committee summarizing that in 2006, the IEEE Canadian Foundation
- awarded 9 Scholarships, 2 Learning Centre Upgrade Grants and 3 grants to establish new centres at the Royal Military College and the universities of Guelph and Victoria, 7 Special Grants, 1 Vehicular Technology Travel Grant, 1 Women in Engineering Prize, and 1 Power Quality Scholarship - totaling $52,950,370.
- re-elects current directors Luc Matteau and Hugh Swain, whose 3-yr terms are expiring
- elects one new director, John Plant for a 3-yr term.
- approved the 2007 operating budget and appointed the auditors for 2007
- approves a new investment strategy utilizing a portfolio comprised of 50% Fixed Income (Bonds, GICs, etc.), 25% Blue Chip Stocks and 25% Income Trusts
Mar 2007 Photo Lori Hogan is shown receiving her IEEE Canada WIE Prize in her home Section of Newfoundland & Labrador from Section Vice Chair Dr, Eric Gill. Ms. Hogan received her B. Eng in Computer Engineering in 2003 and is currently pursuing graduate studies at Memorial University in St. John's, NL. She has been very active in IEEE in the student branch, at the section level and also at the national level. She was IEEE Memorial University Student Branch Vice Chair from 1999-2001, Women in Science and Engineering Newfoundland and Labrador (WISE-NL) Director and Webmaster from 2003 to 2006, IEEE Canada Regional Student Representative from 2004-2006, IEEE Newfoundland and Labrador Section GOLD/Women in Engineering Representative from 2006-2007, and is currently the IEEE Canada GOLD Representative. Ms. Hogan's dedication, enthusiasm, and creativity are evident throughout all of her volunteer activities and we are very pleased to honor her contribution with this prestigious award. This prize is sponsored by the Judy Clift Fund of the IEEE Canadian Foundation.
