The nominee must be an undergraduate IEEE Student Member in good standing, registered in their penultimate year of an accredited electrical engineering, computer engineering or engineering science/engineering physics undergraduate program offered in a Canadian university, a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, enrolled as a full-time student. One is not eligible if they are the recipient of another IEEE Canada or IEEE Canadian Foundation scholarship or WIE Award in the past 12 months. Strong encouragement should be given to nominating female candidates. Judging will be on merit in accordance with the criteria set out.
Nomination is by a faculty member supported by student declaration and a student submitted essay.
A faculty member may nominate one student based on their candidate's eligibility and orientation toward the above goals.
The student being nominated will submit an online declaration incorporating an essay. The essay is to be original, up to 500 words that provide evidence of leadership, creativity, enthusiasm and success by own efforts under adverse conditions, particularly financial. The enthusiasm about becoming an engineer should radiate through the writing style.
The faculty member and the student declaration forms must be submitted on-line using the "applications and nominations" link on the left side of this page by March 15. On submission you will receive both an online acknowledgement as well as an emailed acknowledgement. If either of these does not occur please email the address listed at More Information below.

The Decision Process
The Grants Committee of the IEEE Canadian Foundation will review and rank the nominations, and forward their recommendation to the Board of Directors of the IEEE Canadian Foundation, who will determine the recipient at their first meeting of each year, normally held in early April. The scholarship need not be awarded in a given year if there are no suitable candidates.
Nominees and nominators will be notified via e-mail by the Foundation, as soon as possible following the meeting of the Board of Directors. Each recipient's University will be contacted by the Foundation regarding the awarding of the scholarship and financial arrangements. Payment will be made directly to the educational institution, for deposit into the student's account.
A framed certificate will be presented to the scholarship recipient by the local Section Chair at a suitable IEEE (Branch or Section) Meeting.
